Timo Lipistö, CEO of Edita Group, thinks the name change helps clarify Edita’s offering and brands. “When Edita bought Citat Group in 2008 there were a number of companies with Citat in their name. As Citat Journalistgruppen becomes JG Communication, we’ve refined that group and the Citat brand is now owned solely by a sister company in the group.
“Edita’s position as the Nordic region’s leading supplier of communication services is made clearer with JG Communication and Citat as separate brands with different objectives. Citat will continue as Sweden’s second largest advertising and production bureau.”
This is equally important for JG Communications. Johansson says: “The name Citat Journalistgruppen isn’t representative of what we stand for any longer. Citat fills its brand with its own content. Journalistgruppen is a part of our history that we’re proud of but we do so much more than what the name suggests. With new ways of communicating, we have created a new vision that is reflected in our name.”
The new vision
This vision is summed up in the words: “Opening people’s minds” – which is what communication in the future is about. The most important thing for a company is that it fulfills its customers’ goals – JG Communication contributes to making this happen.
“Considering the enormous amount of information that surrounds us, we tend to shut out whatever isn’t relevant,” Johansson says. “We want to help our customers create relevant conversations with those individuals that are important to them: employees, customers or other stake holders. We do this with what we do best: using words, sounds and images. That’s why our mission is to create relevant conversations using words, sounds and images.”
The logo consists of a thread that symbolizes communication. Johansson says: “Our new logotype is a sphere of communication and visualizes how we see communication today – always in motion, with threads that sometimes integrate with other threads, and sometimes don’t. It shows that communication is complex and in continually flowing.”
